Good-Bye 2018

Only a few minutes left until 2019 arrives and can I just say that 2018 has flown by. It doesn’t seem, let alone feel like it’s New Year’s Eve.

Though it hasn’t been as eventful as years past, there were a couple changes have taken place this year. My supervisor and a coworker unexpectedly resigned and I was forced to step up and take on a lot more responsibility. We have been able to get some help and divide up some of her responsibilities. I didn’t want to take on the Management position, so it was offered to another co-worker. I have been entrusted with handling the hospital’s finances and another coworker has been entrusted with Human Resources. In June, we broke ground on our new hospital, it has been a long struggle to get to this point and we hope to open it in Mid to Late January.

In August, I started back school at Durham Technical College to study Emergency Management. I just finished my first semester and finished with 3 As and 1 C. I have learned so much in the last 16 weeks and I can’t wait to complete my degree and find a good job in the Disaster Field. I joined Phi Beta Lambda, it’s the equivalent to Future Business Leaders of America in high school.

Hurricane Florence came straight for us, but we were very fortunate to not have any damage, but a major street I use that I love on was damaged and it about killed me going 5 miles out of my way to get to work or church for almost 3 weeks. Hurricane Michael hit my hometown of Albany, Georgia and one of my favorite vacation destinations, Panama City Beach, Florida causing major damage and flooding.

I haven’t been very productive in my writing or blogging this year and a lot of that is because of lack of time, school, and tiredness.

So let’s move on from the past year and look forward to the new year to come. Happy New Year! Welcome 2019!
