Vanishing Childhood: Bozo the Clown

Is it sad that I want to go back in time and live in the 80s? Pieces of my childhood are vanishing. Some of the best movies are being remade and cartoons are being turned into real people, as well as some of the greatest music legends and actors are passing away.

Today, I found out that one of last men to portray Bozo the Clown passed away a few days ago. I loved that show and I couldn’t wait to get home, do my homework, and watch his show. Each episode had special guest, entertainment, and games. The contestants on the show walked away with arms full of games and prizes. I dreamt of being on the show, being picked to play the GRAND PRIZE ROUND, and walking away with an armful of games and prizes.  You had to pick a ball out of Bozo’s bucket and toss into 1st bucket in a row of 6 and the one to the next one and so forth until you got to bucket #6 for the GRAND PRIZE! For every ball in a bucket, you won a prize such as card games, board games, certificates, or toys and for the Final Bucket you won a usually a big prize like a bike or money.

Times have changed and the entertainment world is not what it used to be and with every generation that passes a piece of our childhood vanishes with it and the wish for simpler times are getting harder and harder to come by. So, here’s to simpler times.
